New Safety Program To Kickstart At Motorcycle Expo

Last updated on Thursday, February 18, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Kent Abernathy, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), announced that Ride Safe Indiana (RSI), the BMV’s authorized motorcycle safety program, will officially launch at the Boat, Sport and Travel Show’s Motorcycle Expo this weekend.

"Our new motorcycle safety program, Ride Safe Indiana, was created to not only train more motorcyclists, but to educate all motorists on the road to help decrease motorcycle accidents and fatalities," Abernathy said. "Hoosiers can sign up for motorcycle safety courses right at our RSI booth and our staff will be on site to answer any questions about the new program."

RSI offers basic rider courses and advanced rider courses from 16 providers across Indiana and registration is available all season at RideSafeIndiana.com. More than 200 new motorcycles were added to the BMV's training fleet as well as two three-wheeled motorcycles available now for safety training courses.

Along with having a booth at the Motorcycle Expo from Feb. 19 - 21, the BMV will have a booth and mobile license branch set up in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion throughout the Boat, Sport and Travel Show (Feb. 19 - 28). Customers can complete transactions, speak to BMV staff and try our driving simulator.

Tickets to the Boat, Sport and Travel Show include same-day admission to the Motorcycle Expo. For ticket and general information, visit IndianapolisBoatSportandTravelShow.com. To register for a motorcycle safety course or for more information about RSI, visit RideSafeIndiana.com.
