Last updated on Friday, February 12, 2016

(VANDERBURGH CO.) - A judge has sentenced an Owensboro man to a decade behind bars in connection with a crash that paralyzed a Tri-State doctor.

Police say 23-year-old Travis Cox was driving drunk on April 15 when he hit Dr. Conrad De Jesus who was jogging on the sidewalk along Riverside Drive.

Prosecutors say Dr. De Jesus is now paralyzed from the neck down.

Cox pleaded guilty to all the charges against him back in November.

We're told Cox received 12 years for count 1 of his charges, four for count two and two years for count 3. The sentences will be served concurrently.

The judge also ordered Cox to pay $426,000 in restitution to the De Jesus family for medical bills that have piled up.
