(JEFFERSONVILLE) - Cody Cashion, the 20-year-old currently serving a 65-year sentence for causing a fire that killed three young siblings, has pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness for his role in a January 2014 car chase and crash that seriously injured a Clarksville Police Officer.
"Mr. Cashion has categorically denied that he was operating the motor vehicle that was involved in this incident, he did not change his story, did not admit that he was driving the vehicle in the night in question, simply admitted that he assisted someone in reckless conduct that ultimately ended in someone's, in this case a Clarksville police officer, suffering serious bodily injury," Mickey Weber, Cashion's Defense Attorney, said.
Under the plea agreement, Cashion will serve eight years, the maximum for a class C felony, concurrently with his sentence for the fatal fire.
Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said the police officer supported the plea offer based on the evidence they had in this case. Another person, a juvenile at the time of the crash, was also suspected in the car chase.
Cashion will be back in court on February 29 for his sentencing.
