Dear Terri Jo,

Rear End Crash Injures One

Troopers were called to the wreck at 12:16 p.m., just east of Thomas Street in Shelburn.

According to an ISP report, a 2000 Freightliner tractor pulling a grain hauler, driven by 42-year-old Ross Mize of Carlisle, was stopped westbound on State Road 48 for a passing train.

A blue 2006 Dodge Dakota, driven by 75-year-old Thomas Russell of Shelburn, was stopped behind the tractor-trailer.

A third vehicle, white 2008 Pontiac G6, driven by 50-year-old Michael Jones of Fairbanks, IN., was approaching the stopped traffic and failed to stop, striking Russell's Dakota in the rear and forcing it into the rear of the tractor-trailer.

Michael Jones and his wife Sherry were examined at the scene and released. Thomas Russell, who complained of pain, was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment. Ross Mize was not injuried.

Michael Jones was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision.

The tractor-trailer unit was operated under Keith Deckard Trucking of Sullivan.

The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Mike Taylor. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Kris Fitzgerald, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, Sullivan County EMS, Carlisle EMS, and Thunderbird Fire/Rescue.
