Indiana 1 Of 24 States, Territories Participating In Largest-To-Date EAS Test

(UNDATED) - Indiana will be one of 24 state, territory and district participants in the largest-to-date test of the Emergency Alert System on Wednesday, February 24, at 2:20 p.m. Eastern, 1:20 p.m. Central time.

The test is voluntary by broadcasters and will be similar to the monthly EAS tests that the public sees on a regular basis and will be available to radio stations and broadcast and cable television.

This test will include 21 states, 2 territories, and the District of Columbia. It is expected to last approximately one minute and will verify the delivery and broadcast of a national test message and assess the readiness for distribution of a national-level test message.

The test message which appears/sounds on radio and television is nearly identical to the regular monthly test messages of EAS.

Participants will include Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Texas, U.S. Virgin Islands and Virginia.
