(EVANSVILLE) - An Evansville firefighter is in the Vanderburgh County Jail on rape and criminal confinement charges.

According to the sheriff's office, 42-year-old Michael Loveless and the victim lived together. The incident reportedly stemmed after the victim tried to end the relationship with Loveless.

The victim reportedly grabbed the gun and threw it from a window while Loveless was attempting to load the magazine with ammo. The victim also reported she was raped by Loveless during the incident.
