(AVON) - Five years after Indiana banned texting while driving, legislators may look at clamping down on other cell phone distractions.
WVUB reports, the law prohibits sending texts or e-mails while driving, but neglected to cover surfing the web.
Avon Senator Pete Miller says as phones have gotten more sophisticated, drivers now can and do tweet, play games, or watch videos on their phones when they should be watching the road.
Miller has introduced a bill to revisit the law and get ahead of any future apps by defining not what's prohibited, but what's allowed.
His bill would allow you to talk on your phone or use it to check directions while driving, but nothing else.
Miller authored a bill last year which would have made Indiana the 11th state to ban talking on a handheld phone while driving. But he says that step doesn't have the support to pass.
