(INDIANAPOLIS) - If you’re a dog owner, Indianapolis Animal Care and Control wants you to be aware of new additions to city ordinance on how pets should be treated.
WTHR reports, one of the additions defines the extreme low and high temperatures at which point the owner must bring their dog inside to a temperature controlled facility.
"Some folks bring their outside dogs in, and because of their dog's behavior, they believe the dog wants to remain outside. This very situation was presented to an IACC employee. Her response was the absolute best we've heard!" IACC posted to their Facebook page Monday.
"When my children were young, they would have played outside in the snow all day. They wouldn't wear coats or gloves unless I made them. They wouldn't want to come in until I made them. Because I understood the dangers, I made them wear protective clothing and made them come inside when it was time to warm up. Same goes for pets."
