(HAMMOND) - A former northwestern Indiana mayor intends to plead guilty to allegations he helped his stepdaughter cover up her embezzlement of court funds.
The Munster Times reports federal court records show Keith Soderquist plans to plead guilty Wednesday to one count of accessory after the fact.
The former Lake Station mayor and his wife, Deborah Soderquist, have also agreed to waive their right to appeal their September wire fraud convictions.
Soderquist acknowledges in his plea deal that he obtained a $15,000 loan from a third party to cover up his stepdaughter's actions after learning that Miranda Brakley embezzled more than $5,000 from Lake Station's City Court while she was employed there.
Court records show Brakley plans to plead guilty Wednesday to one count of theft from a government entity.
