(COLUMBUS) - He filled his cart with items—and never paid for them, police say.

A Columbus man was arrested after pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise out of a local store without stopping at the checkout, police said. Officers from the Columbus Police Department were dispatched to WalMart, 735 Whitfield Dr., in response to the incident around 10 a.m. Monday.

Store security workers reported seeing 19-year-old Gage R. Janusch put 178 items in his cart and leave without paying for any of them. The items were valued at $3,100.

Janusch was arrested on a felony theft charge and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.
