Three People Killed After Street Racing Accident

Last updated on Wednesday, December 30, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Marion County Coroner’s Office released the names of the three people, including a 12-year-old girl, who were killed in a crash just before Christmas Eve.

The victims were identified as Rebecca Rodriguez-Gomez, 52; her daughter, Jasmine Alday-Rodriguez, 12; and Rogelio Legorreta, 59.

Officers responded to the crash just before midnight Wednesday on S. East Street near I-465.

Police believe street racing may have caused the crash. Witnesses told authorities a Ford Mustang and a Corvette were stopped at a stoplight, revving their engines. When the light changed, the two cars took off like they were racing, said witnesses.

Onlookers said the Mustang started to fishtail, hitting the median before flipping into oncoming traffic, striking the Chevrolet Trailblazer. All three victims in the Trailblazer were killed.
