State Troopers Say Someone Is Throwing Objects From The Overpass On I-94 in LaPorte County

(LAPORTE CO.) - Indiana State Troopers are currently investigating criminal mischief incidents which have been occurring on I-94 at the County Road 900 North overpass in LaPorte County. County Road 900 North, is at the 43.8 M.M. on I-94 approximately 1 mile west of the Michigan state line.

The past two days,troopers have responded to 24 complaints of criminal mischief of objects being thrown off the overpass with a total of 17 crash reports being taken.

Police say, this activity is extremely dangerous to the motoring public as it can result in not only damage to vehicles but injuries and even death in the event of an object penetrating a windshield and striking an occupant of a moving vehicle.

State Police are requesting the public's help in reporting seeing anyone/anything suspicious in this area the last two days and in the future. Suspicious activity can be reported by contacting the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department as well as the Indiana State Police via 911.

Any person caught may face criminal charges.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and be alert while driving in this area and again report ANY suspicious activity to law enforcement.
