Last updated on Thursday, December 31, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Prosecutors are seeking life in prison without parole for a man charged in the beating death of a 2-year-old boy he was caring for.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office said Wednesday it's seeking the sentence for 21-year-old Diquan Williams. Williams faces charges of murder, battery and two counts of neglect in the slaying of Cameron Parks. The state cited as aggravating circumstances that the boy was tortured and under age 12 at the time of his death.

Parks died October 17 after suffering trauma including injuries to his brain, a lacerated liver, hemorrhages in both eyes, and multiple bruises.

Williams is being held in the Marion County Jail. A message seeking comment was left for his public defender.

The child's mother, Dominique Parks, is charged with neglect in the case.
