(SOUTH BEND) - A judge has rejected a request to throw out the disputed confession of a South Bend woman accused of killing her 11-month son.
The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1IfQfY2 ) a St. Joseph Superior Court judge issued the ruling Friday.
Twenty-two-year-old Nyesha Crockett and her attorney had sought to prevent her statements to police from being used as evidence in her upcoming trial, saying they were coerced.
Prosecutors argued Crockett was read her rights and allowed to take breaks during her police interrogation. Court document say she told officers she kicked, choked and shook her infant son.
Crockett is accused in her son's August 2014 death and an earlier injury to her daughter that left her in a coma. She faces an April trial on murder, neglect and other charges.
