(EVANSVILLE) - Investigators are trying to find out what caused a deadly fire at an Evansville apartment complex Thursday.

The coroner says 52-year-old Evelyn Christine Mitchell died in the fire at Pavilion Lakes. She was a resident there.

A dog was also killed in the fire.

We're told her husband is in the ICU, being treated for burns.

Fire crews were called to the blaze around 11 a.m.

Investigators say it started on the first floor and spread to the second. According to firefighters, two nearby apartment buildings were saved from the flames because of a 'fire wall.'

An autopsy for Mitchell is scheduled for today.
