(PUTNAM CO.) - A Coatesville man is now serving a two-year prison sentence for a drunk driving crash that killed Brownsburg teacher Megan Witty.
Alexander King reached a plea agreement with Putnam County prosecutors, in which he pleaded guilty to causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a blood concentration of .15 or more, a felony.
A reckless homicide charge, also a felony, was dismissed.
Indiana Department of Correction records show King is serving time at the Plainfield Correctional Facility and could be released as early as Nov. 2, 2016.
The probable cause affidavit said a blood draw showed King had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.17 and was speeding, driving recklessly and passing in no-passing zones in the April crash that killed Witty on U.S. 36, east of Bainbridge.
Witnesses reported King's car traveling at a high rate of speed before King lost control of the car and failed to negotiate a curve just west of the bridge over Big Walnut Creek.
King suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
As part of his sentence, he will also have to serve two years on Community Corrections home detention and two years on probation, records show, and his license is suspended for two years.
Witty was in her second year of teaching at Brownsburg High School.
