(GLADSTONE) - The Bartholomew County joint narcotics team and other police found about 12.5 pounds of methamphetamine and made three arrests during a raid Thursday afternoon.

Columbus Police Department Sgt. Matt Harris, says that officers from the department's SWAT team and the joint narcotics unit served a search warrant on a home in the 1800 block of South Gladstone Avenue.

The investigation had been started by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In a box at the home, they found the meth, estimated to have a street value of more than $550,000. Officers also found marijuana and two handguns, one of which was reported stolen.

Three Columbus residents were arrested: 44-year-old Louie D. Tincher faces charges of dealing in meth, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm and maintaining a common nuisance. 53-year-old Steven E. Adam was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing meth and visiting a common nuisance and 26-year-old Tosha M. Smith was arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.

Bartholomew County's joint narcotics enforcement team is a combined unit of the sheriff's department, the city police and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor's Office. It was formed earlier this year to target the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in the community.

Officers from the Indiana State Police, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Columbus Police Department, and Bartholomew County Sheriffs Office assisted with the ongoing investigation.
