"Indiana At 200" Now Available

Last updated on Tuesday, November 24, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The state’s official bicentennial commemorative book, “Indiana at 200: A Celebration of the Hoosier State,” has just come off the press and is now available.

"Indiana at 200" is a patchwork quilt of images, prose and poetry commemorating our bicentennial. Incorporating a wide variety of Hoosier voices--individual, yet bound together by a common Hoosier heritage--this book reflects the thoughts of business and community leaders, artists, athletes, writers, farmers, religious leaders, children and poets. These voices, along with many of the more than 6,000 photos submitted by amateur and professional photographers throughout the state, present a picture of who we are as Hoosiers, as well as our dreams and aspirations.

"'Indiana at 200' is a wonderful look at Indiana and its residents. With an abundance of photos, opinions, facts and stories, this book will be a great legacy of the Bicentennial, something you will go back to again and again," said Perry Hammock, executive director of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission.

The 248-page coffee table book retails for $39.95 and is available through M.T. Publishing Company, Inc. (www.mtpublishing.com) and through other booksellers. In addition, several historical and genealogical societies and chambers of commerce across the state will have copies for sale.

About the Bicentennial Commission

In December 2011, a 15-member commission was appointed, chaired by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and former Congressman Lee Hamilton, to oversee the planning and execution of a statewide celebration for Indiana's 200th birthday. Indiana's 2016 Bicentennial celebration aims to honor our state's 200 years of history, but do so in a modern way that engages all 6.5 million Hoosiers and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations.
