(WASHINGTON) - 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon has been appointed to serve on a special House committee created to investigate Planned Parenthood.
Democrats say the committee is a waste of money, three permanent House panels are already scrutinizing the organization.
For his part, Bucshon says the investigation is about uncovering all the facts surrounding the medical procedures and business practices used by entities involved in fetal tissue procurement and distribution.
Planned Parenthood has been under fire from congressional Republicans following the release of undercover videos which allegedly that showed employees discussing the sale of fetal tissue and organs for profit.
Planned Parenthood officials have denied the charges and claim the videos were heavily edited and misleading.
Republicans in the house have proposed stripping the organization of its federal funding, but the legislation faces opposition in the Senate.
