Officials: Three Year Old Was Beaten To Death

Last updated on Thursday, September 3, 2015

(JEFFERSONVILLE) - Prosecutors say 3-year old Alexis Arensman was beaten to death but there has still been no arrest in the case almost eight months later.

WDRB reports that the child died inside a home at the Silver Lakes Mobile Home Park in February of this year and prosecutors are now calling it a homicide.

Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull says based on the autopsy report, her death has been ruled as a homicide. Alexis was beaten to death.

There were several adults and another young child with injuries inside the home when Alexis died.

So far, there have been no arrests and no charges in the case, however, Mull says it is coming.

Investigators are investigating on who caused the injuries.

Meanwhile, the child's mother, Cynthia Weigleb, has a history of child abuse; she was arrested in 2011 for beating a 3-month-old and breaking the child's legs and ribs. Weigleb pleaded guilty to battery and causing serious bodily injury in that case.

Mull says there is a reason for the delay in an arrest.

Police say another child is now in foster care and prosecutors say there will also be charges connected to her injuries.
