Tanker Spill Leaves LaPorte County Roads Slippery

Last updated on Wednesday, September 2, 2015

(LAPORTE COUNTY) - A tanker truck carrying around 6,500 gallons of animal fat caused some traffic problems Tuesday in LaPorte County.

Officials say that the tanker truck did not have a cap on top of the vehicle properly fastened, causing it to lose about 600 gallons of liquid fat as it was driving around.

County highway officials say that enough fat spilled to cover and an entire lane of Severs Road and the northbound lane of Indiana 39 to the Toll Road.
