Southern Indiana Ice Cream Parlor Closing Its Doors After 60 Years

Last updated on Tuesday, September 22, 2015

(GEORGETOWN) - A southern Indiana ice cream parlor that’s been serving up cold treats and hot meals for more than 60 years is closing its doors.

Polly's Freeze co-owner Donna Eisert says she and two siblings are no longer physically able to continue running the store they inherited from their late mother, Polly. The business will close its doors Wednesday after 63 years as a presence in Georgetown, about 15 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky.

A real estate broker will begin showing off the property to prospective buyers Wednesday. The ice cream parlor that's known for its iconic neon sign featuring a green parrot is listed for $369,000.

Eisert tells WDRB-TV  she and her sibling hope to find a buyer who "cares as much as we do about it."
