Man Sentenced To 45 Years In Prison For Killing 17-Year-Old

Last updated on Tuesday, September 8, 2015

(RICHMOND) - An eastern Indiana man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for his role in the killing of a 17-year-old who was beaten to death with baseball bats.

A Wayne County judge also sentenced 18-year-old Michael Pruitt on Thursday to 10 years of probation. The Richmond man had pleaded guilty to felony murder in Caleb Woosley's May 2014 killing.

The Palladium-Item reports Pruitt supplied baseball bats to two other men who prosecutor says beat Woosley to death with those bats. Court documents say Woosley was struck 40 times.

Prosecutors said Pruitt stood as a lookout during that attack.

Twenty-one-year-old Deandre Plant and 18-year-old Kore Buchanan are accused of fatally beating Woosley. Their murder trials are scheduled for September 28.
