(NEW ALBANY) - New Albany Police say an 18-year-old man molested a 12-year-old autistic girl.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the alleged incident took place on August 21, and involved a New Albany man, 18-year-old Christopher R. Cupp, II.
New Albany Police say the girl's grandmother contacted them two days later, on August 23. Police say they interviewed the grandmother at New Albany Police Headquarters. She allegedly told officers that her 12-year-old granddaughter told her that 18-year-old Cupp was "bad." When asked what she meant by that, the little girl allegedly pointed at her buttocks and said, "butt butt" and "Christopher ouch."
Police then spoke to the girl's mother, according to the probable cause affidavit. She allegedly told officers that she saw Cupp leaving the girl's bedroom on August 21, at 4:30 a.m. The little girl then allegedly told her mother, "butt butt" and "Christopher shoosh."
Police say the victim is physically challenged, mentally challenged and has a seizure disorder.
On August 27, the girl was interviewed at a child advocate center. Police say that during the interview, she said Cupp was a "meany" and added, "Christopher bad." When asked where Cupp was when he hurt her, the little girl allegedly replied, "my room." When asked what she was doing in her room at the time, she allegedly told investigators, "night night."
The following day, police say they interviewed Cupp. Cupp allegedly admitted to going into the girl's room on the night in question and molesting her.
"I asked Cupp, at 4:30 in the morning, what his mind was telling him," the probable cause affidavit states. "He stated, to go to the room. I asked Cupp, to do what, and he stated he could not say it. I asked Cupp if it was to go have sex with [THE VICTIM] and he stated yes."
Cupp has been charged with child molesting. He is expected to appear in Floyd County court Tuesday afternoon.
