Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Reckless Homicide In Crash That Killed Fort Wayne Teen

Last updated on Friday, September 25, 2015

(FORT WAYNE) - A jury has convicted a man on charges in connection with the death of a Fort Wayne teenager in a crash last year.

Jeremy Washington was convicted early Thursday on four of 11 counts, including reckless homicide and causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The Allen County jury reached a verdict around 2 a.m.

Authorities accused Washington of causing a crash that killed 17-year-old Haley Nellum after fleeing from a bar where he shot a man. Police say he ran a red light, and his SUV slammed into Nellum's car.

Washington was found not guilty on charges including murder and attempted murder. He's scheduled to be sentenced in late October.
