(ANDERSON) - A Madison County judge has ruled that prosecutors have 29 days to return computer equipment and a cellphone to a central Indiana doctor accused of trading prescription drugs for sexual favors from patients.
The Herald Bulletin reports that Judge Thomas Newman Jr. ruled the two laptops, two external hard drives and cellphone must be given back to Eric Jones of Pendleton. Jones is awaiting trial on 32 counts relating to illegally dealing in controlled substances and voyeurism.
Defense attorney Bryan Williams says the equipment is needed to prepare for Jones' defense. The 45-year-old's trial is scheduled for Nov. 10. Jones was arrested in October.
Court papers say one patient told investigators she had sexual encounters with Jones multiple times, and he left her Hydrocodone and Valium prescriptions.
