(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man is dead after a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon.
26-year-old Charles Coleman White of North Miami Ridge Road was riding the cycle on North County Road 330W at about 4:26 p.m., when he lost control and struck a tree on the side of the road, according to Judy Jackson, spokeswoman for the sheriff's department.
Jackson said White did not appear to be wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He had already died when deputies arrived on the scene, she said.
Working at the scene for the sheriff's department were Deputy Kevin Abner, Capt. Dave Steinkoenig, Lt. Greg Duke, Sgt. Jim Stevens, Detective Jason Lancaster, FTO Brent Worman and Deputy Andrew Whipker. Also assisting were Indiana State Police, Columbus Regional Hospital, EMS and German Township Volunteer Fire Department.
