Boy, 2, Dies After Pickup Truck Backs Up Over Him

(FORT WAYNE) - Authorities say a 2-year-old boy has died two days after being hit by a pickup driven by a family member in Fort Wayne.

The Allen County coroner's office said Wednesday that Carson Doolittle died Tuesday night at a Fort Wayne hospital. Fort Wayne police said he was injured late Sunday afternoon, and family took him to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

According to police, a member of the boy's family was backing up a pickup in an alley behind a Fort Wayne home and struck the boy, not knowing he was there.

The Journal Gazette (http://bit.ly/1UoxJSk ) reports police say their findings so far indicate it was "simply a tragic accident."
