Third Suspect Arrested In DJ's Murder Case

Last updated on Wednesday, August 5, 2015

(EVANSVILLE) - Evansville Police confirm the third suspect in the Shane Breedlove murder case has turned himself in.

WFIE reports that Bobby Michael Handegard was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on Tuesday night.

The other two suspects, Derrick Murray and Bobby John Handegard, were already in custody.

Breedlove, the popular Evansville DJ, was gunned down two weeks ago on Evansville's east side.

The Evansville Police Department held at press conference Tuesday afternoon to release additional details in the case.

Police say Tuesday morning, around 4 a.m., detectives and the EPD SWAT team served warrants for Derrick Murray, Bobby John Handegard and Bobby Michael Handegard.

For the Breedlove family, it's been two long emotional weeks of waiting for answers.

Now with three suspects in jail, the family tells 14NEWS they are praying for those working the case.

"We're one step further towards bringing some justice to Shane Breedlove's family," said Captain Andy Chandler.

The Breedlove family sent the following statement to 14NEWS:

"Seeing photos of these individuals only brings about more questions, questions we hope to have answered soon."

"We've been given a number of tips and leads on a possible motive," Chandler said. "We don't really want to say exactly what that is."

Friends of Breedlove believe whatever it was that went down that night was personal.

The three men who will be charged with the murder of Breedlove are familiar faces to Evansville Police.

Derrick Murray pleaded guilty to making violent threats against police officers.

Bobby John and Bobby Michael Handegard -- a father-son duo -- have faced drug possession charges.

But, why these three wanted Breedlove dead is still puzzling to police and to Breedlove's friends.

Police tell us their investigation will continue.
