New Trial Date For Man Accused Of Killing Wife In 1975

Last updated on Thursday, August 13, 2015

(TERRE HAUTE) - A scheduled trial date has been pushed back for a Terre Haute man accused of killing his first wife in 1975.

The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports Earl Taylor's trial is now set for February 2016. His trial was previously scheduled for August 24.

Taylor served more than 25 years in prison after he was convicted in 1988 of killing his second wife. He was freed in January 2014, and was arrested in July that year after a renewed investigation into the death of his first wife, 23-year-old Kathy Taylor.

Earl Taylor told investigators at the time of his first wife's death that he found her dead in the bathtub, and an electric clock radio had fallen in. Criminal charges were not filed at the time. He's now charged with first-degree murder.
