(EVANSVILLE) - A man is in the Vanderburgh County jail facing a list of charges, including battery of a public safety official.
According to a police report, officers were called by witnesses reporting 33-year-old Todd Joseph Jefferys hit a 16-year-old girl. The report says the victim later told police Jefferys had choked her to the point where she was going to pass out.
WFIE reports, Jefferys then resisted arrest and tried to run away, but officers were able to catch him.
He was taken to the hospital and later arrested.
