Former Corrections Officer Sentenced For Smuggling Contraband

(TERRE HAUTE) - A former prison guard has been sentenced to 52 months for his role in smuggling contraband into the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute.

55-year-old Edward Tunwar supervised the operations of the kitchen in the penitentiary.

While working in the kitchen, Tunwar provided a federal inmate with multiple cellular telephones and 130 packs of tobacco. He also smuggled in heroin and delivered it to another inmate.
