Farmer Praises "Big Farm Boys" For Saving Him After His Tractor Rolled Over

Last updated on Monday, August 31, 2015

(GREENSBURG) - A southeastern Indiana farmer whose tractor rolled over, leaving him pinned next to its lawn mower attachment’s spinning blades, is praising a group of “big farm boys” for rescuing him.

74-year-old Allen Cramer was mowing Thursday when the tractor slipped sideways and rolled over into a ditch, trapping him beneath it.

The lawn mower attachment was spinning behind the Greensburg man initially as diesel fuel leaked out near the running engine.

Although Cramer was relieved when the engine finally died, he remained trapped until members of the neighboring Holtkamp family arrived and lifted the tractor high enough for him to crawl to safety.

Cramer tells the Greensburg Daily News he's thankful for the "big farm boys" who freed him. He says neighbors help each other in times of need.
