Elite Gymnastics Coach Marvin Sharp Arrested On Child Molesting Charge

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Authorities raided a northwest side home owned by elite gymnastics coach Marvin Sharp Sunday night.

IMPD officers and State Police troopers made the raid in the 5000 block of Deer Creek Avenue around 5 p.m. through the Crimes Against Children unit. Sharp was taken into custody after being questioned in authorities' mobile command unit.

Sharp is the owner of the well-known Sharp's Gymnastics Academy where Olympic gymnasts have trained. His list of accomplishments is long including USA Artistic Coach of the year, USA Gymnastics Elite National Coach of the Year.

Several boxes of evidence were seen being taken out of the home and K9 units were brought in to aid in the search, but law enforcement officials have not confirmed any more details of their investigation at this point.

Authorities also raided the gym, located in the 8000 block of Georgetown Road. Officers were scene carrying several items from the business.

Records indicate that Sharp has been booked on an initial charge of child molesting.
