Clark County Sheriff Suspends Work Crew Program

Last updated on Monday, August 17, 2015

(JEFFERSONVILLE) - A southern Indiana county has suspended a work crew program for inmates after authorities say they discovered someone trying to sneak phones and drugs to those in the jail.

Clark County sheriff's Detective Scott Maples tells The Louisville Courier-Journal that earlier this month officers found two packages containing a cell phone, charger, lighter, heroin, methamphetamine and Suboxone, which is used to treat opiate addiction, in an area where about five low-level offenders do routine landscaping work at the sheriff's office training center.

The work crew program has been suspended while it is reviewed by the Clark County sheriff.
