UPDATED - Body Found In Wooded Area In Vermillion County

(VERMILLION) - Indiana State Police and the Vermillion County Coroner’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the death of a person found in southwestern Vermillion County near County Roads 200 West and Brouilletts Road.

At approximately 12:04 p.m. Sunday, property owners discovered a gray 2013 Ford pickup in the wooded area and upon further investigation, found the deceased near the rear of the truck. The owners contacted Indiana State Police Master Trooper Ty Lightle who then summoned additional law enforcement.

Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are conducting a full investigation and all avenues and theories will be investigated; however, there were no obvious signs of foul play.

The Indiana State Police and the Vermillion County Coroner's Office have released the preliminary autopsy results on the male found deceased in the wooded area in southwestern Vermillion County.The cause of death has been listed at asphyxiation due to hanging and the manner of death listed as suicide.

DNA is going to be used to identify the victim. Investigators strongly believe the deceased is 54-year-old Daniel Keith Adams of Terre Haute, IN. He was reported missing to the Vigo County Sheriff's Office on August 5, 2015. However, positive identification has not been determined and could take weeks.

The case is being investigated by ISP Detective Don Anglin. Assisting were ISP Crime Scene Technicians Sergeant Jim Cody and Sam Stearley; ISP Officers Master Trooper Ty Lightle, Trooper Ted Robertson, and Sergeant Joe Watts; Vermillion County Sheriff Mike Phelps and deputies Mike Holtkamp, Chad Akers, Tim DisPennett, and Mike Strader; Vermillion County Coroner Roger Lewis and Deputy Coroner Matt Fitzhum; and the Vigo County Sheriff's Office.
