Last updated on Friday, August 14, 2015

(MOORESVILLE) - An ATV accident claimed the life of a Mooresville teen on Thursday night.

According to Indiana Conservation Officers, at approximately 6:59 p.m. authorities were called to the area of Oldfield Lane near State Road 42 in Mooresville in reference to an ATV accident.

Initial investigation revealed that 16-year-old Dalton Stuck, and his brother 13-year-old Parker Jones, both of Mooresville, were both riding on a Polaris Sportsman ATV being driven by Stuck on Oldfield Lane. When for some unknown reason, Stuck lost control of the ATV and struck the guardrail of a bridge.

Jones was transported by ambulance to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health with a laceration to his left leg. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Stuck was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with severe chest trauma. He died from those injuries.

Stuck and Jones were not wearing helmets or protective equipment which Conservation Officers strongly encourage those riding or operating ATV's to wear.
