Armed Robbery On Monon Trail

Last updated on Tuesday, August 11, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Two men were attacked early Sunday morning on the Monon Trail at 61st Street in Broad Ripple.

WTHR News reports, the armed robbery came just weeks after the curfew on the Monon was eliminated. The trail is now open 24/7.

Police reports indicate three suspects were waiting in the shadows along the trail and then came out, armed with some kind of weapon; one of the suspects was armed with either a taser or a handgun.

The suspects got away with one of the victim's cell phone. Both of the men, ages 22 and 23, according to police, had minor injuries.

IMPD has said that it, along with park police, will have regular nighttime patrols on the trail, aimed at deterring incidents like the one this morning.
