Woman Arrested After Attempting To Smuggle Heroin Into Wabash Valley Correctional Facility

(CARLISLE) - A Hendricks County woman was arrested after she attempted to smuggle 3 grams of heroin into the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

Prison officials says 25-year-old Lynise Rene Beard of Avon was found to have a round plastic wrapped object taped to her body. The substance had heroin inside.

Beard is facing felony charges of possession of heroin, attempted trafficking of a controlled substance to an inmate and misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement.

The name of the offender Beard intended to visit and give the drug has not been released. Prison officials say the inmate was placed in a restricted housing unit.
