Storms Leave More Than 45,000 Without Power, Winds Gut To 60mph

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A line of severe storms moving across Indiana has downed trees and power lines, leaving more than 45,000 electricity customers without power.

Indianapolis Power & Light Co. reported more than 33,000 customers in the dark early Monday afternoon after the lines of storms swept through central Indiana. Duke Energy reported more than 11,000 customers without service, including more than 7,000 in Johnson County directly south of Indianapolis. Indiana Michigan Power Co. reported more than 1,700 customers without power.

The National Weather Service says 1.3 inches of rain fell in 30 minutes near Greencastle. It says a 61 mph wind gust was measured on the Indianapolis west side.
