Man Saves Baby From Car Overturned In Muncie Creek

Last updated on Friday, July 31, 2015

(MUNCIE) - Police say a man has saved an infant that was in a car overturned in a creek in Muncie.

Muncie police Sgt. James Lenox says the baby could have drowned Wednesday if it weren't for the man's efforts.

The Muncie Star Press reports the baby and a 13-year-old girl also in the car were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

Lenox says the baby and the girl were in the car waiting for the grandmother of at least one of them, when a 27-year-old man jumped behind the wheel and drove off. The car left the road on a curve and flipped into the creek.

According to Lenox, the suspect was later captured in the neighborhood. The newspaper says he was to be taken to jail after treatment for minor injuries at a hospital.
