Indy Zoo Skyline Ride Closed, Eight People Rescued

Last updated on Friday, July 31, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Skyline Ride at the Indianapolis zoo broke down—-again.

The ride shut down around 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, and firefighters arrived about an hour afterward--having been dispatched about 45 minutes into the ordeal.

There were eight people on the ride at the time. Nobody was injured.

Officials say that the malfunction was likely caused by something that went wrong with the gondola-style ride's motor. The previous time it just down in June it was the result of an error code that was triggered by sensors on the ride.

Officials say it will remain closed until further notice as they investigate the issue.

Since October of last year the ride has now shut down three times due to mechanical problems. There were no injuries in any of the other two cases.
