Last updated on Monday, June 1, 2015

(NEW ALBANY) - A southern Indiana youth shelter worker faces a child seduction charge for allegedly having a sexual encounter with a 17-year-old boy living at the shelter.

The News and Tribune reports 22-year-old Kelly Byrd of Louisville, Kentucky, was arrested Thursday and charged with felony child seduction.

She was released on bond following an initial hearing in in Floyd County Superior Court during which a not guilty plea was entered on her behalf.

A judge approved an order calling for Byrd to have no contact with the alleged victim.

A probable cause affidavit says Byrd was employed at Open Door Youth Services in New Albany. Court documents say a witness reported seeing Byrd in the boy's bed at the youth shelter when the two allegedly engaged in kissing and fondling.
