(TERRE HAUTE) - The woman who posted an Indiana State University threat hoax will not face jail-time.
In 2014, 19-year-old Rashon Marshall-Bowen posted a threat on a social media site called Yik-Yak. The threat referred to a 'potential campus shooting' on Indiana State University's campus.
In city court, the Vigo County Prosecutor's Office gave Bowen a deferred sentence placing her on probation. This means she must complete several stipulations before the judge throws-out a sentence or guilty plea.
Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt told WTHI-TV that Bowen is in the process of joining the military. She is required to complete 40 hours of community service and not get arrested.
Bowen was dismissed as a student from ISU and is not allowed on campus. If she completes and obeys her stipulations, then she can officially join the military.
Bowen is due back in court in September.
