Missing Owensville Man Found Miles From Home

Last updated on Wednesday, June 10, 2015

(OWENSVILLE) - An Owensville man was found miles from his home in Henderson.

Indiana State Police tell us 72-year-old John Short disappeared on Monday morning.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office says a farmer found Short in the Green River Bottoms around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Short was sitting in his truck. He told the farmer he was lost and the farmer called 911.

Short's step-daughter, Shelly Grimm, says John suffers from dementia, which is why she was so worried.

She says she had been caring for him and he just recently moved with other family members.

Grimm says she's thankful for everyone who helped in the search.

"Lots of my friends have texted me and messaged me on Facebook," she said. "Some of the sitters that had set with him before. They have been out looking and trying to keep an eye out for him so yeah we've all been looking."

Grimm said she planned on reuniting with her step dad at some point Tuesday.
