Last updated on Friday, June 26, 2015

(HANCOCK CO.) - An Indianapolis man has died after crews rescued him from a pond at a Hancock County campground.

Police received a report of a possible drowning at Heartland Resort on North CR 300 West shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers quickly found the man, identified as 18-year-old Anthony Moore Jr. of Indianapolis, and rushed him to Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

Moore died of his injuries while at the hospital.

Those who were with him said the victim was walking with friends along the water when the accident occurred. It is not known how Moore ended up in the water, but his friends, who called for help, say he did not know how to swim.
