Last updated on Monday, June 29, 2015

(UNDATED) - Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting a death investigation after recovering a body from the Ohio River over the weekend.

The body was located outside of Mauckport near Morvin's Landing. Shortly before 3:30 p.m., a person walking along the river bank noticed what appeared to be a dead body, and called 911. Indiana Conservation Officers were able to wade out and retrieve the body of a female a short while later.

The Harrison County Coroner's Office has taken possession of the body, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

As the female is still unidentified, anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact Indiana Conservation Officers' Central Dispatch at (812) 837-9536 or Harrison County Dispatch at (812) 738-3911.
