Delaware County Leads State In Highest Number Of Meth Labs

Last updated on Monday, June 8, 2015

(MUNCIE) - A central Indiana county again is leading the state in the highest number of illegal meth labs reported during the first four months in a year.

The Star Press reports that statistics recently released by the Indiana State Police show authorities discovered 68 methamphetamine labs in Delaware County between Jan. 1 and April 30 this year. The county also led the state during the first quarter of 2014 with 42 reported meth labs.

State police say the drug labs ranged from "one-pot" labs often made from soft-drink bottles to more elaborate operations. Noble County ranked second in the state during the four-month period, with 24 meth labs discovered.

Only five of Indiana's other 90 counties had 20 labs or more.
