(ORLAND) - An 8-year-old boy was killed when he rode his bicycle into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Department said the boy was riding in the area of County Road 700 North near State Road 327 shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators said a pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Bucky Sterling of Orland was driving west on the county road when the boy drove into his path from a private drive. The Steuben County Coroner pronounced the boy dead at the scene. An autopsy concluded the boy died from blunt force trauma.
The crash is under investigation.
