Public Relations Firm Expected to Look At "Honest To Goodness Indiana" Slogan

Last updated on Wednesday, May 13, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A tourism slogan that critics said could undermine efforts to promote Indiana as a vibrant destination could get the boot as part of efforts to repair an image battered by a religious objections law.

A New York public relations firm is expected to look at the "Honest to Goodness Indiana" slogan as part of a $2 million review of the impact of the law signed by Gov. Mike Pence in March.

Many companies canceled travel to Indiana amid concerns that the law was anti-gay. Tourism officials tell the Indianapolis Business Journal meeting planners are still reluctant to schedule events in the state despite changes addressing the discrimination concerns.

Mark Newman of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development says the "Honest to Goodness" summer campaign has already begun.
